Project Details

The Benson Park playground was designed to be a welcoming space where children of all abilities can play, connect, and grow together. The City wanted the new playground to be accessible, unique, and engaging for a wide age range, while also being durable and meeting CSA safety standards.

To achieve this, the design included barrier-free surfacing, wide decks, transfer points, and plenty of ground-level features so that children using mobility devices could join in the fun. A highlight of the playground is the whirlwind seat, which gives kids of all abilities a fun spinning experience.

The play structure also includes net climbers, slides, overhead activities, and a musical panel — offering physical challenge, sensory play, and social opportunities. These features support kids with different play styles, whether they prefer active climbing or quieter, tactile activities.

Today, Benson Park is more than just a playground. It’s a community gathering place that brings children and families together, supporting inclusive play, fitness, imagination, and fun for everyone.
