Located in a family-oriented neighborhood in Vernon, BC, the 19th Avenue Playground was created to revitalize a small community park into a lively and inclusive destination for local families. The client’s goal was to provide a play space that serves both younger and older children while maintaining a thoughtful balance between visual appeal, accessibility, and budget efficiency.
The final design includes a combination of dynamic climbing features, overhead ladders, and slides to challenge older children, while maintaining accessible and age-appropriate elements for toddlers. The Duo Spinner and Modern Transfer Station enhance inclusivity—inviting children of varying abilities to engage in social and sensory play together. Classic play favorites like swings and a see-saw add a familiar sense of fun and nostalgia, encouraging cooperation and shared experiences.
With its efficient layout, modern look, and inclusive play features, this playground successfully transforms a modest space into a vibrant community hub—one that reflects Vernon’s growing, family-friendly spirit.
