Project Details

Central Park Playground is the centerpiece of Spruce Grove’s Re-imagined Central Park — a multi-year revitalization that adds a skate plaza, pump track, bike skills area and a brand-new inclusive playground designed to welcome children and caregivers of all abilities. The park’s refresh was guided by community input and delivers improved connectivity, enhanced lighting and accessible site circulation so the space works for families year-round.

"The inclusive playground is bright, unique and inviting! The slide tower is unlike any we’ve found in the capital region and my daughter complimented the design. It offers users several ways to get up to the top level – including a spiral ramp.  There are two huge, twisty slides as well as a roller slide. (Roller slides are an inclusive feature for a number of reasons. They offer a sensory experience, are often wider to allow parallel play, and remove static electricity making them safe for users with cochlear implants." - Jill from Edmonton Playgrounds

At the heart of the playground is GameTime’s Aventus Tower — the industry’s first accessible playground tower — which raises play to new heights with an integrated transfer platform, SureGrip climbing surfaces, wide decks and sensory-forward gathering spaces that let kids using mobility devices explore upper levels alongside their peers. These inclusive features create more independent play opportunities, better sightlines for caregivers, and a richer, multi-sensory play experience for everyone.

Park N Play Design partnered on the project with a focus on inclusive design, evidence-based play value, and low-maintenance durability. Our scope included equipment selection, site planning for accessible routes and surfacing, and coordination of installation activities so the playground integrates seamlessly with the new wheeled-sports plaza and surrounding gathering areas. The result is a safe, inviting community hub that supports active play, family connection, and ongoing activation through events and programming.
