The newly completed Skownan First Nation School Playground in Skownan, MB, is a thoughtfully designed and inclusive play space that combines sensory-rich elements with classic play equipment to support physical, social, and cognitive development.

This 4,306 sq. ft. playground features a wide variety of activities for all ages and abilities, laid out on a safe engineered wood fiber (EWF) surface with an 11-foot fall height and in-ground installation. The layout encourages free play, imaginative adventures, and full-body movement.

Playground Features:

  • Slides: Includes a double zip slide, single spiral wild slide, and smaller slides like the Little Foot Slide for younger kids.
  • Climbers & Towers: Olympus climber, Twister climber, and multiple tower connections with platforms and crawl tubes.
  • Sensory Play: Features like the Sensory Wave Seat, Drum Panel, Bumble Panel, Nature Discovery Table, and Animal Rake Panel support inclusive and multi-sensory play experiences.
  • Zip Track: A SkyRun Zip Track with a zip seat provides thrilling movement and gross motor play.
  • Spinning & Motion Play: The One Piece Playtopia Whirl and Hand Cycler offer spinning and hand-eye coordination opportunities.
  • Imaginative Panels: Interactive panels such as Maze Panel, Funnel Counter Panel, Gear Panel, and Telescope Panel spark curiosity and storytelling.
  • Ground-Level Activities: Accessible features include benches, crawl spaces, and inclusive entry points to ensure all children can participate.

The playground promotes safe sightlines for supervision and has areas for rest and quiet time, including shaded roofs and multiple seating pods.
