Bringing a New Community Park to Shelburne, Ontario

Bringing a New Community Park to Shelburne, Ontario

Last year, we were contracted to help Shelburne, Ontario create a new community playground. Of the multiple design submissions that were voted on by the community members themselves, ours was chosen as the design of choice to bring the new playground to life and become a National Demonstration Site, built with best practices in design promoting physical activity.

We were proud to help this Town create a new place to play, and were honored when Jim Moss, the Town's Director of Development and Operations had this to say about the project:

“Shelburne is a fast growing community in Southern Central Ontario that has seen at least four new developments in the last eight years and growing in population from 5500 to our current 9,000. With our swift development has come a request for more community parks and play areas within the Town.

Park N Play design was contacted in early 2018 by the Town of Shelburne to participate in a Request For Proposal (RFP) for the creation of a new community park within a new subdivision development in town. The residents of Shelburne were polled for their input to see what features they would most like to see in a new park.

Park N Play Design was the successful candidate for the project and quickly set to work to keep with the Town timelines to incorporate and design the public's criteria into the park area. At the construction stage almost immediately, the project ran into an unforeseen problem with substandard subbase material to build the new park on. Park N Play took the delay to remove and replacement of more than 4500 cubic meters of material in stride and still managed to finish the park within the anticipated timeframe in the fall of 2018.

The finished product is now one of the most beautiful parks in town, in my opinion, and from Community feedback.

From the Town's hassle-free experience with this project, I would not hesitate to highly recommend Bob and his crew at Park N Play for any park design and play structure construction that you may be considering to undertake."
