Project Details

As part of it's Commons Park, the University District in Calgary wanted to build an inclusive playground for every kid of every age and ability to have the opportunity to play and move.

This playground is a National Inclusion Demonstration Site and was designed with the 7 Principles of Inclusive Design. It has a ton of fun features that help remove limitations on accessibility to playground fun. Features like:

  • a giant custom net with transfer platforms for people who rely on mobility devices
  • sensory wave climbers with sensory gadgets and easy transfers when using mobility devices
  • a roller slide offers a different sensory stimulation combined with the classic thrill-of-the-slide
  • a Rock N Raft that allows children with mobility challenges to experience a swinging motion along with all their friends!

In 2018, the City of Calgary honoured this park with the Access Recognition Award for helping make Calgary a more inclusive and accessible city.

We're proud to have been able to be a part of creating such a fun, inclusive park that continues to bring the community together!
